Cort's Big Adventure!

New years eve ended with us taking Cort to the ER since he had a cold and it was getting pretty yucky. They diagnosed him with croup, gave him a steroid shot and sent him home saying he should get better soon. The weekend progressed and he only got worse, he kept me up crying all sunday night so I had clif take us to the ER again monday morning. They never really diagnosed us for sure there but by this time he was dehydrated and his oxygen was low. They tried putting and IV in him over eight times with no luck. Since springerville hospital and showlow hospital aren't really equipped to take care of little kids they air-vacced Cort and I to Phoenix Children's Hospital. The hospital crew used a drill to get and IV in Cort's leg bone, I didn't watch, I couldn't, but Clif said it was pretty rough. It was both Cort and I's first helicopter ride. It felt long and cramped since I hadnt' slept the night before and there was four adults and cort crammed in to the helicopter. We got to the hospital after about an hour and a half and they took him to the er where they tried one IV with no luck and then put one in his head, I was becoming a pro at holding my son down so that they could poke him by now! :( Clif and Allen drove down and joined me about three hours after Cort and I got there. Down there they diagnosed him with RSV, Brochilitis and an ear infection. They can't treat the first two but the gave him a shot for the ear infection. They admitted us so that they could hydrate him and get his oxygen up to normal. It was a rough day for all of us and many tears of worry were shed, along with cort's tears of pain. He was so exhausted and so was I by the time the first day was over. Our stay was kind of boring and rough but I don't have time for all the details right now. We got released around one on wednesday and headed straight home. It was nice to be home and not stuck in a hospital any more. He is doing a lot better now health wise but he is pretty fussy lately and his eating and sleeping habits got really messed up so we will have to work on those. Thank you to all who offered prays for us or were thinking of us! We didn't get any pictures of him while he was in the hospital unfortunetely but these are a few from before and after!
He likes cell phones
My little builder
He used to cry when I put him in this but after getting lots of shots and needles stuck in him, I don't think he is so scared any more.
This is from the IV in his leg bone, the circle around it is a burn from the drill :(
If you look at his hand it shows one of the many bruises he now has from failed IV's.
